James Oliver, Jr. was born July 2, 1964 in the South Bronx, to the late Deacon James Allen Oliver, Sr. and Rev. Dr. Marilyn Oliver. James, Jr. is the Second of five siblings raised in church where he played bongos, drums and sang in the choir. Coming from a Gospel Musical family, Brother J. Oliver realized he wanted to worship the Lord in song. With a true heart of worship and the power of praise Brother J. Oliver has sung at numerous churches throughout the Tri-State. J. Oliver opened up and sang backgrounds for various Gospel & R&B Artist. From performing in Off Broadway Musical “Mama I Want to Sing” to being a Host of “Gospel in The City” Brother J. Oliver continues his focus as an Artist. Brother J. put out an independent project in 2000 titled “Cover Me”. Since then he has been performing and writing. He has teamed up with producer Phil “Nut” Howard and will release his debut EP titled “New Beginning” in Spring 2020.
